April 1st marked the start of Autism Acceptance Month, and I am really excited to launch a book drive with some of my fellow StoryMakers to help spread literacy and learning to families of neurodivergent children!
Did you know that the new CDC statistics recently shared that 1 in 36 individuals are autistic? Autism simply means that an individual’s brain works differently than others. Not all autistic individuals are the same, and our country is increasing in its ability to diagnose and support both kids and adults with this different brain neurotype!
Providing families the opportunities to have interactive books and toys that target their autistic kids’ specific interests is invaluable! The opportunities for language and social learning provided through literacy can really impact the entire family. This is why I am launching a book drive to provide PaperPie products to autistic children!
